Brand profile

Beauty brands for ages 14–25

Proposed scope

Product development & sourcing

01 / The brief

A brand’s next chapter.

The imagined brand

Imagine a Netherlands-based independent beauty brand with its own online shop and selected Western European retail stockists. Its audience spans teens and young adults aged 14–25, with an expressive, playful and colour-led identity.

The opportunity

Develop a coordinated travel accessory set for weekends away, swimming and overnight stays. Translate one bold pink identity into a flexible wash bag, a textile accessory, refill containers and transparent storage.

02 / The collection

Pink Pop Travel Club

Hot pink, glossy silicone-look surfaces and translucent candy pink create a recognisable family. The scarf adds a contrasting satin texture, while three matching empty pots support a coordinated packing routine.

01

The Weekender Wash Bag

A sculpted hot-pink bag with a molded handle, matching zip and glossy silicone-look finish.

Proposed size: 25 × 17 × 10 cm

02

The Pink Hair Scarf

A pink polyester-satin square folded into a triangle, with finished edges.

Proposed size: 65 × 65 cm before folding

03

The Refill Trio

Three empty pots for shower gel, shampoo and body lotion, with translucent pink bodies and glossy screw lids. Contents are not included.

Target capacity: 100 mL per pot

04

The Clear Pink Case

A transparent pink case with snap closures and a proposed gasketed lid. Water protection requires testing before any performance claim.

Proposed size: 24 × 15 × 8 cm

Capacity, materials and dimensions are proposed specifications. Waterproof performance is a development target, not a verified claim. Images show empty refill containers, not cosmetic formulations.

03 / The retail possibilities

One family. Different ways to offer it.

The complete travel set

The wash bag, scarf, refill trio and clear case as one coordinated collection.

The refill edit

Three matching empty pots, with removable content labels proposed for the final product.

A colour-led accessory

The satin hair scarf offered separately as an extension of the brand’s pink identity.

04 / The development approach

What needs to
come together.

High shine, transparency and a soft-touch appearance involve different material choices. A silicone look does not mean every product is silicone. The design also needs workable closures, suitable refill-container materials and a clear definition of the case’s intended water exposure.

How DES would approach the project

  1. Set the commercial scope

Agree quantities, target landed cost, sales markets, launch window and which items need to fit inside the case.

  2. Compare materials and tooling

Assess bag construction, pot and lid materials, clear-case options and scarf production. Compare available molds with custom tooling.

  3. Sample the pink palette

Review physical colour samples, gloss, transparency, tactile feel, molding finish and scratch visibility under agreed lighting.

  4. Verify function and fit

Plan closure, leakage and handling checks with qualified partners. Evaluate formula compatibility, dispensing practicality and real pack-out dimensions.

  5. Coordinate the launch preparation

Following written approvals, track production, arrange agreed inspections and coordinate protective packaging and shipment handover.

A bold creative idea, translated into a structured material, sampling and sourcing programme.
